I had the 350X out this past weekend and it has 20" fast trekkers which i love, but it seems to wind out a little faster than i'd like. I bought new sprockets and went with the stock 13/40, if i wanted to get a little more out of it would you recommend going with the 14 front or something like a 38 rear. I think i heard long ago that 2 rear teeth are like one front? And you need to change at least one front gear to make up for 2" of tire diameter. So anyway whats the best/easiest way to do this? Can you buy a ton of different rear sprockets for the 85's? Thanks in advance, TC...

front sprocket up one tooth, would be the easiest.. it would be like going 2-3 on the back..I think the biggest you can go is a 15

Just go up 1 tooth and you'll be happy. if you go to a 15 tooth you may find yourself clutching it often in the woods. i know stock gearing and 22" tires on my 350x I still have to clutch.

Good deal thats what i was hoping people do, plus i'll have a brand new 13 and 14 so if i hate it i can always go back to the other in a few minutes, thanks guys, TC...

I change the front sprocket just 'cause it's easier.
Go up one on the front and you'll be happy.

for ground clearance you could go smaller in the rear
my 250x/350x hybrid gearing was 15 38
but my 350rx likes 14 36 or 37 (high rev cam dont like the high gearing)
i hate skid plates so i like to small on the back sprocket....this is with 18'' tires too

Have you ever had your anger for skidplates checked out by a professional? Why the hate my son :wondering
ANYHOW - I upped to 14 in the front with 20" tires and the stock rear. With the 400EX carb and the AB lid off and exhaust mods, I feel it has more speed in it though. I think at 15 you can't run the case saver unless it's ground down to near nothing.

DC i thought something wasn't kosher with the 15 tooth just couldn't recall what it was, i plan to run the case saver and guard so i guess the 14 is the way to go. It will be nice to have a setup that can putt around but get up and go when i feel like it...

lol.....im tellin you, if i get a bike that has one its the first thing to go
i guess my hate stems back to 1986 or so when i tore mine off my 85 200x (while i was rideing it)
damn thing was always getting bent up into the disc and sprocket and makeing noise. now the aftermarket ones are nice and being thick aluminum they are the way to go but ill never run one.
