86 250r vs 85 250r

hi, what the best to buy, i'm searching for an ATC 250r 1985 or 1986, but with your experience, what the difference between this two years, and which one do you prefer?

Thats a great post i read when shopping for mine. But in the end the best one to get is the one that seems like the best deal for what you want. It's not like you're going to be able to locate a ton of these for sale locally and being over 20 years old there aren't too many that are like new. I would say its worth spending the extra money to buy one that has a fair amount of wear and tear items already replaced, or get one cheap enough that you can afford to spend another 1000 bucks over the next couple years. Keep in mind things like plastics are several hundred for a set, tires can be 50-100 each, motor work can be very expensive when you're paying a shop, and look at things like the bearings, bushings, any odd welds on the frame. You get the point just make sure you know what you want and what you're looking at, TC...

There really aren't huge milestone changes in 86 for a guy in CANADA, take what you can get :)

There's is a 85 250r to sell in St-Hyacinthe for 2000$. If I had the money I would jump on this bargain.

All the 250r for sale I saw in the last 2 years, the asking price was always more than this one. At least it look complete... Sure if you look long enough you will be able to find one all beated up with a tired engine for less than 1000$.
