i took the shock off my tecate the other day to put on a new frame and discoverd the metal housing in the shock slides out is this bad?

I think that is bad, very bad. Means your shock is blown.

im not sure if it is or not because nothing happened it just slides in and out but not easily from what i could see it looks fine but i dont know if it was blown out how could i tell
