View Full Version : any 83-85 200X ignition system upgrades???

as the title says, are their any performance ignition upgrades for a 83-85 200X, such as a coil, cdi, etc. would an xr200 coil be an upgrade?

i seen this on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-CDI-BOX-HIGH-PERFORMANCE-CRF150-XR200-XR250-XR600_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35564QQihZ002QQit emZ120254721353QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW. the 200x plug wont fit in it, but in the auction it says it can be hand wired in. so does anyone know of any performance ignition upgrades? thanks!

The coils on the XR and 200X look identical but there maybe be slight internal differences but I can't imagine why. I know the CDI's are different, they have completely different part numbers. If the connectors are the same I'm going to try my XR200 CDI on my 200X. I haven't done it yet but a platinum or iridium spark plug may be a good upgrade as well.

Other than a voltage regulator, what makes you want an upgraded ignition system? Unless you added some motor mods??

ive done motor mods and now would love to find a upgrade for the cdi.

i am doing some engine mods, and i would like to do something to the ignition system. so i was wondering if their were any upgrades?
