I just installed a cable instead of rope for the pull starter on my 200s. The length was about 26" long or so.

probably the plastic coated cable, they sell it specifically for pull starters. I tried it on my ytm200 but first pull I yanked it right out of the engine :wondering I think I didn't have it installed properly but I just went back to rope instead, cable felt too stiff for my liking

Yeah its the plastic coated cable. I bought it from dennis kirk. It is a pain to work with but its a lot stronger than rope.

Yikes cable sucks, there is NO give when you give her a rip. Had a cable pull rope on an old snowmobile once.... That wasn't fun. I would just get rope, good rope will last you darn near forever and it will be much easier on your hand. Just wait for that baby to kick back a little once with a cable and you will wish you had a rope pull start.

Go to your local Hardware store and pick up 36-40 inches of 3/16 braided nylon rope. If you want take your pull starter off and take it with you.
It "Might" cost you $2.00 at a hardware store.
I NEVER put less than 30inches of rode on a pull starter. If I can fit 4-5 ft on there I will put that much on it. Your hand with thank you in the end. Too short of rope could lead to the pull handle being ripped out of your fingers if you pull too far. Anyone that has ever done this knows the pain.
