Portable Tach to set air screw/pilot?

I have a clymer manual and it says to hook up a portable tach to set the pilot and air screw.

What do i need,,,,can this be purchased like at auto zone?

I have a Daytona electronic tach setup if you want it. Works on 2-strokes and 4-strokes with up to 2 cylinders I believe. Cost me like 230 new. Barely used, you can have it for 100, I'll include all the hook-ups and stuff. Also features a top RPM reached and an hour meter and clock.
