250r engine has the drain plug hole stripped...I was wondering what I should do to fix it. Is it ok, to drill it out and retap for the next size bigger? Or is there some other superiour way?
Thanks

Helicoils have always served me very well.
Timeserts, threaded inserts are other methods that people like.
Cover the drill and or tap in grease and have at it.
Piece of cake :)

Or you can just get a oversized self tapping plug from you local auto parts store. Take your old plug with you to size up the new one.

I used a pipe tap and a plug. Just be careful not to tap too deep and watch the chips.

I myself, Split case's and weld a new insert in....mind you it helps when you have a lathe at your disposal....:beer
