Hello, First post( thanxs for letting me in!!) - I have an 85' -350x, stock except for pipe(DG), I rebuilt the carrier bearing 2years ago and the hub seems to be rolling and my chain comes loose. I packed the bearings with grease and I'm thinking the grease might be letting it slide. I don't want to over tighten the allen bolts. How can i get it to stay?:pics: OLD PIC! THANXS !

I dont think that there is anything you can do but tighten the allen bolts a little tighter. If you're worried about stripping them, just go to Home Depot to get a couple of new ones, thats where I got mine. for under $2.00 as well

the lock bolts should be tightend to 9-13ft-lb be sure to keep the center stop bolt in place

I'm going to take it apart and check everything first. I know this seems a little hillbilly but has anyone thought about drilling a small hole and setting the hub with some kind of sealed set screw. TIA

Took it all apart and the bearings are toast, seals are chewed up, and the o-rings are broken, a little water, carrier has small cracks all over. I rebuilt this 2 years ago. Rode thru some water a year ago, must have ate it up?

You can do whatever you wish to lock your carrier. But, you obviously have a mechanical problem...

Something is worn, loose, missing or malfunctioning. It's no mystery. There is a bearing in pivot point A (the swingarm) and a bearing arrangement in the rear carrier point B. They both need to be in spec with the collar and other parts doing there job.

The carrier rotates in the swinger. Is it rotating? A magic marker line could tell you that for sure.

Is the carrier worn so bad that it slips even with the pinch bolts tight? Are the pinch bolts in good shape??

Take a picture of this rear carrier and other parts for us will ya??

I replaced everything but the carrier. Just put it back together and took it for a ride. So far it hasn't moved but, I'll mark it . I'm going to Mich. this weekend to test it on some hills, jumps and then we'll see.Thanxs for the input. It's nice to get another point of view to get things right...I've been riding this thing for the last 4 years and it's been good to me so far. Knock on wood...When I can afford a new carrier, It's next.
