Most of them can be rebuilt for about 150 to 200$. If the shaft is pitted, bent or scratched that will have to be replaced too.....

With some knowhow, access to nitrogen and $40 you can do it yourself. I believe "All Balls" sells the kit and the oil can be bought anywhere offroad parts are sold..

All I really want done is just have it stop leaking the oil.....................

Is the loose part you are referring to rubber?? There is a rubber stopper on the shaft that keeps the shock from bottoming out too hard. Its normal for them to be able to ride up and down on the shaft as far as I know.
Sounds like a leaky seal. I dont know how complicated it is, as mine is going to get an a good cleaning for the first time this summer.

A good friend of mine does shock service for alot of GNCC guys with the best rates I've found anywhere. Your shaft has to be in perfect shape or don't waste your time.
Basic rebuild around $65 complete plus shipping each way. Turn around is between 1 and 2 weeks depending on his schedual and parts. Andrew is his name, email him here, smithandy @ yahoo.com and put shock service in your header. Tell him Jim sent you, he's done half a dozen shocks for me in the last year and lives about 15 minutes away from me. I've played middle man for a few guys on here but figured this way would be easier for anyone looking for a rebuild that won't break the bank.

whats included for the $65? i rebuild shocks and can't do it that cheap. $40 for the seal head, $20 for the bottom out bumper, theres $60 right there. and you still need oil, nitrogen and your time to do it.

The bump stop is not included in the rebuild, those are $20 extra if needed. Andrew is a shock dealer so maybe he gets his parts at a better cost than you. He doesn't make alot on shock rebuilding, he does it to help guys out so they can save a little money and stay in the races from week to week.
