shining up tripples after sand blasting?

alright ive sand blasted the heck outa these nasty looking tipples and a few parts like the master cylinder and all that but the thing is that they have become an ugly dull gray color now. can i polish these up to shine like they did before or was that just paint that was on them? i dont have a problem painting them but id much rather like to shine them up if i could let me know

As much as everybody loves the bling,I am not a big fan of it.If it were me I would just paint them.

Its going to be some work to get them to shine.Better go with a polishing wheel.

they need to be sanded smooth from about 80grit up to 400grit before even attempting to polish them

NO dont touch that aluminum with 80 grit...you will never get the scratches out.

the absolute ROUGHEST you want to start with is about 300-360. that wont make grooves/deep scratches like 80 or even 150 will.

start with nothing less than 300, move up to 400, then about 600, then try a buffing/polishing wheel mounted to a bench grinder with some polishing compound.

Powder Coat them Polish / Chrome .... Easy way out of Polishing !

sandblsting was definatly a mistake, unless you were planning on painting them

If you hate yourself :crazy: , you can start sanding by hand :eek: . It will make them look good, but not OEM good. Plus, you'll become a slave of them even if you clear coat them.
If you ask me, paint is a great solution, but then again, they need to be sanded... :lol:

depends on how bad the sand pitted them out.....either way, 80 grit will cause more problems than solve........if absolutely necessary, 150 would be the absolute grittiest i would use, unless you want to sand them for years........
