I just picked up a 85 250 sx ,when I try to start it it has no spark .I used the coil and CDI out of my 250 B.R. and they are good .What would be the next thing to check ,would a bad stator be why I have no spark .I bought the trike and the owner said it was a electric problem ,I bought another wire harness with no cuts in it and installed it with a working coil and CDI box and still no spark .If anyone can help me with my problem it would be great ,thanks ...........svo58

I just had this on my 70. Wasn't running (had been running great). Was holding the plug on the block, pulling the rope starter...no spark. Slipped with the plug off the block on one of the pulls, and got major spark from the plug across air to the block...plug was shorted...so new plug and she started first pull. Just an idea to check.

I would make sure the keyed ignition and or the engine kill switch are good. I just had to straighten out some issues with the keyed ignition on my 250es. I have also had problems with the kill switch in the past.

When I put my BR back together after restoring it, I had no spark. I eventually found that the main fuse back by the battery was bad. I think that the SX has something similiar.

Possible bad pickup coil on the stator plate, but not the stator itself.

Check the kill switch. Had a crimped wire on the kill switch one time on a 200es and it drove me nuts till I found it.
