I never needed a tool to hold it when i tool the bolt out of the bottom, I just loosend the damper bolts, removed dust seal, removed C-clip, and yanked the seals out. Im not sure if the tecate is very different but Im assuming its the same concept.

i take the fork caps off, drain the oil, reinstall the fork caps, then use an impact on that bottom allen head bolt which holds the damper.
That always gets that bolt out without an issue.

I just put an allen bit in the end with a small ratchet.Put the body in a vise with some wood to hold it tight. Then just pull on the fork tube and loosen the bottom bolt.Works every time.

well i used the wooden broom stick trick to get one out. it almost snapped. so i took the piece into the hardware store to get a nut to weld on a rod to make a tool. i had to use a 3/4" locking nut. that was the only one that fit. it is a 1 1/16" bolt. welded it on a steel rod and it worked great. forks are rebuilt with amsoil shock/fork fluid and i'm ready to rock. if anyone else is wondering it is a 1 1/16" bolt head for the 86-87 KXT tecate forks. thanks
