i think you would probably have to mix some race gas in with it, i know with cars about 11:1 is the max for todays crappy gas atleast that seams to be the trend around here. then again the new honda 450's are like 12:5 and run on pump gas:wondering

i put 12:! in my modified auto x and it ran off 93 but real crappy and sluggish. i put race fuel in and wella it runs better. smoother and better pick up.

the new honda 450s also seem to require top end rebuilds around 100 hours or so. that seems to be what i'm hearing.

450's are liquid cooled, completely different from air cooled engines. You don't need higher octane fuel for high compression, you need it for the added heat of high compression. That's why liquid cooled bikes can handle more compression on lower octane. They can keep things cooler. Typically 11:1 is the max for air cooled engines on pump gas but even that can ping if you ride it hard enough. Now if you have E85 in your area and can tune for it then you'll handle the 12:1 just fine. E85 cooled down my engine big time!

i was thinking about getting a 12:1 for my 200X, and i have heard all 3 things:
1. it will run fine with a 12:1 on 93
2. you will have to run a mix of 93 and race gas for 12:1
3. you will have to run full race gas
so i just bought a wiseco 10.25:1 to be safe to run on 93. if you dont want to run race gas, just buy a wiseco 10.25:1, or a XR200 10:1
