View Full Version : tri-zinger jetting
I have a tri-zinger that is pretty much stock with the exception of a 2nd overbore and boyesen reeds. It runs like crap on top end, way to rich. The motor is all new and the oil injection has been removed, I am running 93 octane and klotz oil. I am assuming that it needs to be jetted a bit down due to the reeds. I do not have the dg pipe yet. Does anyone here a a good starting point for the jetting. Stock is 92.5 and if I look at the parts diagrams it says that I can get a 90 and a 95 main as options. I was thinking about the 90. Does anyone have any experience on this.

After drilling the exhaust, installing boyesen reeds and adding a high flow air filter on my sons zinger I still haven't got it to run right. I think it may have a clutch problem. No bottom end power at all.
I tried going up and down on the main jet with no improvement so I went back to the stock size.
The motor on mine is pretty much all rebuilt, new piston, rings, cylinder and head powdercoated, installed new crank seals(without splitting the cases) new yamaha factory clutch and housing, new primary gear rubbers. The works. I let my son ride it and it didn't sound right but I let him play anyway. When he was done I pulled the pug and man was it black. I am just going to get some different size jets and try to mess with the main. Was just wondering what jet size to start with if stcok is 92.5. I am not sure of the effect a different size has on a zinger. Meaning how much different a jet size makes. I would like to drill the exhaust like you did, I herd that makes a difference. Do you maybe have a diagram or something that shows you where you drill it. I'm sure you herd this before but have you gone through the carb? The clutch will make a difference, if it is extremely worn it will slip like crazy. Also if you open the side cover check the primary drive gear. Rotate it back and forth, you should not hear and metal sounds. Dumb design, but here are 2 rubber bumpers in there that cusion the clutch, they can deteriorate. Mine were completely gone
