View Full Version : 500r gets a new slug installed

last month i rebuilt the 500r. the new topend must have been to tight because it seized up hard while WOT in 5th gear :eek:

I sent my spare cylinder to eric gorr to get some luvin :)

I think I know what happened, the exhaust bridge didn't have the clearance it needed, you see when that bridge heats up it expands inwards toward the piston so extra clearance is required across the bridge area.

Who bored it? That is a rookie mistake of not cleaning up the exhaust bridge.

I think billy still runs a 500 cylinder with the exhaust bridge removed:naughty:

Raffas on the right track. I have a cylinder at stock bore that was a re-sleeve. The bridge cracked. Instead of chunking the entire cylinder I removed the bridge. I don't know what your oversize is, but with some clean up and some new rings I'd bet money thats a usable piece.

she fired off today!! 1st kick!!!!!!!!!!!! i gave her two heat cycles and then putted around the yard for about 5 minutes.
