Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had a 200x in the garage they could throw a tape measure on really quick, here's a couple #'s i need before i spend the money on a set-up. I dont need these measured down to the thousandth or anything just like an within and 1/8 inch so i can check out what i have to work with.

Outside width (left to right parrallel to the axle) of the swingarm between the brake mount and the shock mounting bolts

Inside width of the same from above

height of the main structure between the carrier and shock mounts

Center to center from the sprocket to the brake rotor

Overall width of the axle with stock hubs, 400ex are plus 2 right?

Also the year of the machine that was measured would be nice

That should do it for now, i think i can figure everything else out from there, i just dont want to spend the money for something i can't use. Thanks TC...

I'm planning on cutting it up for my tecate build, so it really doesn't matter what year but i'm thinking 84 and later so parts are readily available and i can use the 400ex hubs...

Ok here's a couple pics to better explain what i'm looking for. I'm trying to ignore the welds, and go off of the stock dimensions of the tecate swinger for my measurements. I will be buying another 85 swingarm to cut up for the build, if it looks like it will work. If these two pieces measure pretty close to the same, i plan on cutting them so they will sort of slide together and overlap on atleast 2 of the 4 flats on each side. One: for a little more strength before adding in any additional metal, and two: i can work it out before cutting to compensate for a half inch or so of extra width one way or the other to allow for proper chain alignment and to make sure the axle will be very close to perpendicular to the pivot bolt. Sound reasonable? I think it will work out pretty well, and i guess that worst thing that can come out of this is failure.

The tecate measures about 6 inches wide from outside to outside of the swingarm
6 7/8 from center to center of the sprocket/brake disc
just under 2 inches tall on the sides

The first pic is the setup i bought and should have in a week or so the other pics are the measurements i'm looking for off the 200x. Also can anyone tell just by the pic what year the 200x rear end is? Thanks TC...

Thanks old school i should have thought of that because i recall my 84 had a red spring now that you mention it.

So is this a good set-up and able to use the 400ex hubs?? Thanks again, TC...

84 and 85 have box swingarms...83 is round tubing but everything is the same on them otherwise. i would meause up all you need but i run a 300ex style custom swingarm to run a 300ex bearing carrier since the stock 200x stuff was not very great.

Are the 300ex swingarms steel? Ive been avoiding later model stuff because i want to do this myself on a very minimal budget...

yes they are steel, was more parts then 200x. my swingarm was custom made so its not your type stock swingarm.

Thanks for the info, i'll see what this set up looks like when i get it. I'm only into the X parts 65.00 including shipping so it wouldn't be hard to dump them if the 300ex looks like a better option. I was avoiding the 86 tecate setup simply because its so hard to find for a reasonable price. Each little piece would nickel and dime me out of money...
