I am installing a headlight on a 1971 honda US90. Bought a headlight off of ebay. I need to know which 2 wires power the headlight? I can install a new switch, while I wait for the light. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Dave

Do you have a meter...if not a cheap'O from Rad shack will make your life easier.
Switch
POSl---------------o_o------------l

O Light Bulb

NEG--------------------------------l

It should look like above when your done. You can just connect the NEG to the frame.

Use your meter to find a Hot ( a wire that has 12 volts on it) wire up close
to the light. FYI...Not trying to insult anyone...but the trike needs to be running to find the hot wire :)

The diagram didnt work on here...So here is a pic of one.

Damn Bill,

that is an impressive wireing diagram you whipped out. Caterpillar will be calling you shortly. I think you can improve on there schematics drastically.

Hey Bill, That is an awesome diagram.
Prob is, the motor is pulled and waiting for a piston, rings, etc. So I don't have a way to make it run. (Looking for something to do while I wait for parts.)
I would buy a book, but I'm planning on selling it.
I do have a meter, but there is no way of checking, without running.
No switch either. (Waiting on that too.)
I was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram with the colors. So I can run the wiring to the switch, and light.

Thanks for the info.

OIC...Well I can't help with that, cause I too have no diagram :) If you know what wire is hot coming off of the stator, you could check continuity up to a wire near the headlight assembly. If not, at the bare minimum you could mount and wire the light and the switch...then all you have left is to run the hot up to the switch!

Hope it helps

Would the wiring be the same on a US90 and a CT90? If so, I think I have a CT70/90 manual around here somewhere.

Yes, I think that they would be the same.
Could you check and see which wires power the headlight?
And which ones feed the switch?

Thanks,
Dave

Haven't found my ct70/90 manual yet....Damn kids never put things back where they belong, lmao. As soon as I find it, I'll let you know the wire colors.
