Finally measured the carb I'm getting off the XR200 and its a mikuni that measures 29mm. I know that is not the stock XR carb but it seems to run ok other then a little bit of a dead spot around 1/3 throttle. I did some searching and the stock XR carb is 26mm and the general idea is that is plenty of carb for a 200X with the typical mods. Is the 29mm really going to be that much of a difference? It ran reasonably well on the XR but the crank locked up and its getting parted out so now I've got the carb to toy with. Opinions?

With a good exhaust and the air box lid removed and the work you have listed in the sig. I think as long at you take the time to jet it correctly it should be good as long as it clears the frame.
Going up a couple mm makes a difference.

Going up a couple mm makes what type of difference?
Are carb jets pretty much universal?

Sort of. You buy them acording to the brand/size range of carb.
