Well, that is high. But for a first gen Tecate that more than likely has an overbored sleeved cylinder, and a head that has been surfaced a few times. That's more common than you think. Unless you have, or can get a stock bore nicasil cylinder, with a good stock cc head, the only correct way to bring it down is to have the head opened up. In other words, add cc's to chamber. It will lower compression, and allow it rev a bit more freely. Do you have an iron lined cylinder?

210 PSI?? I'm not a current 2 stroke owner....

Sounds very high, guess it's a fresh high compression motor. Whats the spec in your OEM manual?? Or are we just gonna "speculate"

Did that number sound high or low to you? is it running like a champ? :wondering

my 87 tecate3 has a 300 big bore and 220lbs and it needs high octane fuel. any 2 stroke sock shouldnt be over 180 or so

that is kinda high for that engine... does it run well on pump fuel? there is alot of variables... head volume, bore size, gasket thickness, porting, elevation, the gauge being used, etc... The KX engine in my tecate will crank up to 270psi

well I been running 110 at the dunes, but It runs fine on 110 mixed 60/40 with pump fuel on dirt... I think pump fuel might be ok, but I just dont wanna take a chance... my cylinder is newer and has a center exhuast valve that changes the port timing a whole bunch... I dont think my actual uncorrected compression ratio is much higher than anyone elses..

i just put brand new wisico pistion and rings in it i believe it was stock bore also.i have had the bike running a few times seems to run ok when running.i have had a problem with the kicker kicking back at me.i did resurface the head on a granit stone at work with sand paper.all new gaskets in the top end factory head gasket and a aftermarket base.i have not ridden the bike yet i need a chain slider to ride it.i dont want to mess up my franks swinger and my new o-ring chain.i am running 93 octain at 50:1 motule oil i run my banshee at the same mix.the compression should go up more after the rings seat right.maybe i should run 110 octor maybe 50/50

.i have had a problem with the kicker kicking back at me.

you might try retardin the timing slightly..

that would be for the kick back right

retarding the timing would help the kick back and run a little cooler with some topend power loss

it may actually add some revs at the expense of low-end... thats what I've found on my bikes... but maybe they were over-advanced from the start
