flat seems to be the way to go.

there up to date, and is what new bikes use. the round slide seems to be phased out.

i guess it is just a newer design. i was just wondering why the flat sems to be the more desireable

more power over round slide. about the only reason to upgrade a carb is to GET MORE POWER!

The flatslides flow better for a given size and are a newer design... the slides also dont need to be enormous on the larger carbs sizes and they take up less space... they are easier to open and close too

From my understanding, a flat side carb exposes the main jet to engine vacumm faster than a round side carb, thus giving a crisper throttle responce.

Flat slides atomize fuel better
