hey everyone -

i have been tearing it up lately on my 200x, but i have a big concern about the stretched cam chain. the guy before me jammed a larger bolt in the auto adjuster to put even more tension on it. i got rid of that and put a stock one back in, but i just dont want to be rallying it hard and have it skip a tooth and screw me hard.

so who and where could i get everything for the timing set? cam chain, sprockets, guides and tensioner?

Dennis Kirk has a parts unlimited timing chain and the tensioner and guide. I installed them in my buds 85 200X and it got SO much quieter. If you yank the side cover and the flywheel, you'll see how it actually works. The 86/87 tensioner is allot quieter running even when it's worn.

does the 86/87 tensioner fit a 85? i wouldnt think so.

i understand how it works, i have two XR200R motors apart. so i learned alot from them about the working parts of these 2 valve motors.

I don't believe all 3 pieces are available, we called and had them check when we placed a large OEM order for his 85.

Lots of stuff shows up as available although it'd discontinued.
