ok, i hear all about this amazing beast of a topend.
i am curious, what makes it such a powerhouse?
obviously, it has much more power than a cr500 motor/trans hookup.
what makes it suck a wicked topend, and could it be adapted to a cr500 bottom end?
also, is it something someone completely built from the ground up, or is it a sleeved, totally modified oem cylinder?

It was designed for drag racing with input from top engine builders... no comparison to a CR500 that was designed for motocross back in the eighties..

They make a lot of big #s. A guy on planet sand, GP racer has a turbo Sabre that did like a 140hp on the dyno. Thats some pretty damn good number for a half liter single cylinder.
The 250R trans is weak when combined with the sabre topend though, even if you get the billet or hardned gear sets they still grenade.

could one of these babies go onto a cr500 bottom end for a sturdier bottom end?

not without a massive amount of welding and machine work.

Spend $3,000 on a CR 500 and see what kind of HP numbers you get! I almost forgot, plan on another $1,000 to $1,500 for the bottom end. $4,500! I think the Sabertooth is a BIG waste of cash and will go extinct just like the cat did...
