HELP!!! atc 125m problems

I've recently bought a 1985 honda atc 125m, i love it but i have some problems. For one i don't know if it's a four stroke or two stroke, so i don't know if it's pre mix or straight 93 octane and then it it's straight gas what oil to use and all that, also that spark plug fouls out after every 5 minutes of riding. we first were mixing 1:32 oil but it'd die that we'd take the plug out and it'd be oil fouled. so i tried leaner 1:40 and 1:50 same effect after putting in straight gas it still dies after five minutes and now it won't rev high when in gear. I've been narrowing the problems down cause when it first got it it was a mess. I think it's a 4 stroke and therefore i think the carbon fouled plug on straight gas means i need a hotter plug, BUT before i do that i need to know if it's a 2 or 4 stroke. Please help me out guys when i did ride it it was a blast but now it's just frustrating cleaning the plug every 5 minutes then no being able to ride it fast sucks. :cry: I need to know what oil to use if it's a 4 stroke.

:welcome: a 125m is a 4 stroke. DO NOT MIX OIL WITH THE FUEL. only put oil in the crankcase. the plug is probably fouling because your mixing oil with the gas. when your not mixing oil with the gas, it could be fouling because its running too rich, you probably need to adjust the carb and lean it out. im not sure what oil to use for the crankcase, but someone else will chime in. have fun, be careful 3-wheelers are addicting. :)

use 10w-30 or 10w-40 in the lower end

thanks guy appreciate it so that narrows it down to simply putting the oil in and a hotter spark plug, i knew it was a four stroke dispute the input i was getting and so i've been running it with straight 93 octane to burn the oil that was left in the chamber from the mixed gas. The oil just goes in the hole were the screw on dipstick is right? i purchased 10w-40 high performance stop go oil but havent put it in yet. just spark plug is just carbon fouling now so i think just a little carb adjustment with a hotter plug should do it what do you think?

yep, put the oil in the hole where the dipstick is. i heard that you have to buy atv oil, because if you put car oil in it, it screws up the clutches. dont know if its true or not, but thats what i heard. carb adjustment should be good also.

Changing jets and adjusting mix is a carb adjustment. Just make sure you have a stock sized plug and that it's gapped properly. Save that oil for the car too because you want a motorcycle or wet clutch oil. You can also ditch the 93 octane, it isn't doing anything but slowly draining your wallet. Regular unleaded is fine, you won't get any extra burn from premium.
