Are there any flywheels and stators from other bikes that will fit the 85 kxt 250?
If so, will I have to change the CDI as well or can I just change the stator or flywheel?
Thanks in advance.

try the same year kx ignition...more durable. magnets are screwed on not glued on.

Thanks for the reply.
So I could just use the Flywheel and Stator and not need the CDI and other parts?

If you use kx fly, then you must use all kx components. None of the parts interchange between bike and trike other than the coil.

Cool, thanks. You guys are great help for us newbies to the trike world.
I pulled my flywheel today and one magnet was completely busted in pieces and one was loose.
The stator actually looks pretty good. One scratch on the bigger coil and the side that has the two smaller ones stacked on each other looks good.
Is there a way to test the stator with a multimeter to tell if it is good?

You have to know the resistance of each. If it's good. Call Ricky Stator. I believe their flys are compatible with oem stators. They can be had for $99-125 new. They eliminate the external magnet issue all together. And you'll still retain the quality oem stator. And if the stator does eventually fail. Then Ricky also has replacement stators. Most of the oem stators that failed were due to the magnets letting go and piling up into the stator coils, and ruining everything all at once.
