So after fixing 1st gear, reassembleing, kickstarter sliped, opened back up, fixed, reassembled, now the clutch slips. I took the clutch out, measured the springs, all good, measured the friction plates, good, no warp on the discs, filed grooves out of clutch basket, adjusted clutch, still slips bad, i can hold the front brake and it will sit and idle as if in neutral. Im running quakerstate 10w30 oil, non synthetic. I can't find any problem with the damn thing, no parts missing at all and its all within service limits. wtf is going on here? Need some tips!
Thanks :beer

my dads x did the same thing, and it sounds dumb but it was the plstic casing inside the stock cable binding up and not letting the cable "close" all the way
i dout thats your prob. more then likly just some bad clutch plates

no, i completely ruled out the cable by taking it off and using a screwdriver to push the clutch lifter. and like i said, checked the plates, flat and within service limits, after reading some post on .org, a guy had the same problem, but he never said how it was fixed, If i drive it for about 20 mins the clutch will begin to work properly, so could it be the oil. Its quakerstate, and it says on it "reduces friction" maybe this is my problem.

Did you oil the fiber plate's before installation??

clutch plates sticking together..even tho the plates are in spec, they still could be bad, burnt from excessive heat.. were they black and real brittle?
I would say get new fibers and new clutch springs

I read a post in a dirtbike forum where a guy took the steels and soaked them in muriaticacid (sp?) for a couple minutes and scrubbed them with a brillow to deglase them. He had the same symptoms as you and said it worked well. Personally I wouldl just replace the fibers and steels, Im sure that would fix your problem, but if you want to use your current set up Im sure the acid would be a good start. Just wear gloves and dont breathe the fumes.

The clutch was fine before right?
Bear in mind you had already taken it apart a couple times and mixed up some thrust washers I believe I read? I'd be willing to gamble that you have a thrust washer in the wrong place and the clutch adj. can't take up all the extra play.

It worked before ya, i think i screwed it from riding around in second when i didnt have 1st gear. I dont think i ever said i had a thrust washer in the wrong place, but i did have the wrong one on the tranny, all is good now except clutch. I ordered versah clutch fibres but also a barnett clutch kit (fibres and springs) which is the one ill be using, might put the versah in my 200m. The washers are all in the right place on the clutch i know for sure

Fixed the problem, barnett clutch kit came in and she's up and runnin. Also got a wiseco piston i still need to get in and it'll be mechanically beautiful! Then when the rear fender comes in she'll be hot!
