1st off take note it shows jetting and SP to use which is (in case you can't read it) #135 main with a QN7C SP, of course that is with the stock carb though.

My ? is why do they give you a new airbox to carb boot when your using (according to the kit, know most don't) the same carb anyway ? The inside diameter has to be tha same to match up to box and carb so why a new one?

Could it be with the different cylinder the carb is raised or lowered somewhat so the arc/bend of tube is different so it matches up perfect, that's the only thing I can think of and I'm sure most buying these cylinders are not getting that tube with it. Probably the stock one will do, just thought I'd point this out.

 Just read this ....They do tell you to take note of top and bottom direction of conecting tube so I probably just answered original ?

It also states it can not be used with the 81R but no mention of not using it with 82, I thought they were the same, motor wise ?

The motor is the same. The carbs are different tho. The 81R has a 27mm carb I believe. Maybe that is the differance. But I know the engines are the same. I just built my motor outta a 81-83-84 motors I have that were beat.

If that's so, (what you say does make sense) you would think they would just have a larger carb for the 81 so they could sell more kits and carbs then ?

I see you have an XL 80, I had one of those too man ! Great machines ! The cops would pull mne over because it was so small they thought it was illeagal, I had fun riding that around. It got stolen and the theives shot it with a shot gun though

Ouch. Ya I use to ride one when I was young. The one I got was sitting in the In Laws basement for 15 years. Half apart. They were gonna throw it out so I brought it home and put it together. I needed tires, tubes, chain adjusters, handlebars and a stator. It runs perfect and is great entertainment. I am missing the side covers aswell.

The reason they had the boot in the kit is with the 300r kit installed the carb sits a couple mm's closer to the airbox than with the stock cylinder.

Huffa on the question of why they didn't say anything about this kit not fitting on the 1982 it looks to me like the sentence was cut short. If you look at that line where it says "It connot to be used with the 1981 and" it goes from that into a totally different sentence. My guess is that it was a typo and should also have said "1982 models".I could be wrong though. I'm sure that the cylinder and head will fit on any of them.
Do you have the complete kit? If so where in the heck did you find it?
