Hi,

I am a new member of this forum and really happy to be here. I live in Belgium and last week I bought a kawasaki tecate kxt 250.

These machine are scarce to find in Belgium especially in good condition so I am really excited about it and I am going to pick it up this sunday. I can't wait anymore.

Here in attachment are the pictures of it. What do you think ? I will post more when the trike will be at my place. Anyway I certainly will have technical issue and I hope tecate owners of this forum will help me to resolve it.

Am I the only belgian atc owner on this forum ?

Thanks a lot. Always cool to receive a nice welcome message and really happy to see other tecate owners all over the world.

Yes the kxt is in good condition but I can't wait to get it at my place so I can carefully look at everything.

I am going to answer you about the lever interchange in my other thread.

Wad,
Thanks for the links that's a great idea it's like trikefest but in the UK. Must be real fun over there. But 5 and 6 April it's a little bit short timing for me but next year I will try to be free for this very promising trike reunion.

Wow, that's a great-looking find! How much did it cost? I'm moving to Russia soon, maybe I can find a trike to ride in Europe as well!

Good to see another member on the forums! Welcome, and I hope you have a great time!

Wow, the newbs are pouring in. Great find, they are not that easy to find here either. I'm hoping that you have riden trikes before, because that's a heck of a machine for your first. Be careful and have fun. :welcome:

Bonjor, hello, and welcome!
Where are you? We holiday in Belgium when we can, usually in the Ardennes region. Love it there! Then christmas has to be in Brugge, chocolate all the way!

Hey hey I see that some of you know really well Belgium. I am located about 10 minutes by car from the center of Brussel. Yes belgian chocolates are so sweet and well known.

Well...the kxt is my first trike ! Yes I know it will be a (huge) task to get used with it ? But I won't take any risks in the beginning.

What about the price I found it a little high but finally decided to buy it anyway because as you can see the kxt is in very good condition. It costed me 900 euros which is lot more in us dollar because euro is higher (1 euro = 1,5 dollar actual exchange rate). So if we don't take the exchange rate effect into account let's say 900 dollars instead of the 1350 dollars with actual rate change.

What do you think ? too much or ok ?

No, that's a great price for a running T-3 in that condition. Great score!! :beer

That is a GREAT buy for a Tecate in that good of condition. Not much more than you'd expect to pay in the US. I think you got a great deal there! Have fun with it and don't get caught off-guard by the motor!

Thanks but I will explain why the decision was not so easy to take : I had the opportunity to buy 2kxt for the same price that the kxt I eventually decided to buy. But one had stator flywheel problem...the other one was ready to drive but the seller had made no effort to present it in real running condition : tires deflated, no brake fluid in the front master cylinder, coolant reservoir away and the rims were in bad condition.

Believe me if I had the place to put 3 kxt at my home I would have bought it all 3 ! But I had to make a decision and went for the one in best condition.

900 bucks is a steal for that machine, especially in that condition! Nice score!

Hi,

Another belgium tecate owner, I'm from Belgium too :)
I live in Alken (near Hasselt).
I'm about to give my tecate a complete rebuild soon, I'll post pictures during the restoration project on this site.

Have fun with your trike, cause vintage atc/atv's rule :)

Regards,
Jan

Nice stuff i dont think i've ever seen an 86 that complete, and i think here that thing could bring over 1500.00 as it sits. I'm a little more willing to pay for something that i wont need to put a bunch of money into locating the missing parts...

The tecate is at my house now so I took some pics. I am working on it just a little bit of cleaning. I already had some technical issue as you can see in my other message on the forum. I will post pics when the cleaning will be done.

No It's real :-)
Your Tri-Z is nice too. There is a tri-z to sell in Belgium (1300 usd) but I haven't space enough to own more than one ATC :-(

I've seen that tri-z on the internet, I know one thing, if I didn't allready have my tri-z, I'd get that one immediately. It's a complete stock, mint condition tri-z. A real steal for that price.

Here is the link for the Tri-z http://www.kapaza.be/Motos/Quads_trikes/8204054/Yamaha_250cc_try_z.html
The seller has decreased the price. Damn it's a pity I don't have enough room here.

Hi Scooterroo,

The tecate is running fine. I am waiting for my new front brake lever (bought on ebay) to push it more and be really more aggresive with the riding. Anyway I am already enjoying this machine.

I have adjusted the idle speed and at cold start it's perfect (just enough to don't stall) and after riding the idle is a little bit high. Nothing to worry about I think and I have read that's the tecates have the tendency to idle high ... is'it true ?

Now I am going to concentrate on the suspension because I feel I have to much sag at the rear. When I compress the rear it doesn't come back to full original position. You know I can lift the rear without the wheels getting off the ground.

Hello, you have a great looking trike there. I wasn't born in Belgium, but my father and his parents where born there. I still have family there, but I have never been.
Welcome to the forums! :beer
