So, about a year ago I got the itch. After 15 years going without, I just had to start riding again. I really wanted a 200x because I thought they were cool when I was a kid. I found a 350x right down the street from me and test drove it.

Wow. That thing would have killed me. I was way to rusty to be starting out on a machine like that. Instead I picked up a 225DR that I affectionately refer to as the Battle Trike. It's ugly and beat up, but just keeps charging headlong into whatever I put in front of it. I think it was a good decision. It was a little more tame than the X I had looked at and probably kept me from getting killed.

This year I was looking around and found another 350x for sale. I couldn't resist. With six months of riding to knock the rust off, I felt like I could handle the X without killing myself so I went for it. Some of you may have seen pics of this X on craigslist but believe me. The pictures don't do it justice.

Here are some shots of the new X and the battle trike.

Oh, yeah. I plan to get there early and be there all week. I have plenty of vacation time saved up this year and I'm going to use most of it up on my bikes. I'm going to ride the heck out of the X at trikefest. No racing, just riding. Well... They're talking about doing an XC. If they do that I might try my hand at racing it. Other than that it's gonna be almost all trail riding for me. I'm sure the battle trike will go along for the ride, but I don't know how much use it will get.

Props for the condition of that bike go to the guy I bought it from. I know he's a member here, but can't recall his handle. I'm sure he'll chime in when he sees his baby. :D That's ok. He still has a really nice 250R to play with.

I like the "Battle Trike", it looks very Mad-Max. You need to wear leather and spikes when driving it

Thanks, Red. I actually want to get a set of racks for it, but that's a separate post. I'm still not sure what I ultimately want to do with it. Some days I want to just hit everything with the rustoleum flat black and say heck with it. Other days I want to purty it up and make it nice. Other days I just want to fix the stupid broken brake pedal, put a seat cover on, and ignore everything else.

Heh! That's what I need! A seat cover that says "Battle Trike". I was already considering some jolly roger stickers for the fenders. It certainly needs a jolly roger for the whip.

Dizaster,

I'm in Chesterton. I saw the thread about Silver Lake. Sounds like a blast. I would probably want to at least put some different tires on the back before I go, but other than that I think I'm in.
