many companies are getting closer, and i believe that it is going to happen. in addition, gasolines are also in the running of being out of production by 2006, but hopefully only cars they say... then to diesel... what would a diesel atv be like? dunno. then by 2010, they want biodiesel! ahh! yes i am serios, read and watch motorweek, and other car shows.... still, i hope we don't have to go to diesel atvs, would be spendy... back to the topic, im going to miss 2 strokes :(

A few companies make a Diesel Quad, Poolaris is one of them, its a huge thing fromw what I saw, I've never ridden one but i've been told they are very sluggish but with plenty of Torque!

it would be sluggish.... but if you were able to make the gears use the low end, it would be a good competitor. also, where did ya hear that some companies are makin em?

they've been saying that about gas since the tree huggin hippies in the 60's.. One thing is true.. gas will forever be the main fuel.. at least in the united states.

i know, but the epa is so strict, and it will keep getting stricter. gas stays in the atmosphere, but diesel gets eaten up, or passes through. they can still improve the catalict converter, and use a lean engine, producing NOx, nitrogen oxide,yes i know what im talking about, with a blast of rich exhaust, which will nuetralize it all out. they are using it in europe, but the us would be different. cars would be spendy, and atv's suffer a price inflation.

just like whale oil filled the lamps of people to light their nights until electricity was harnessed..so will fossil fuels be there for us to get us to the time when man will harness the next power supply...maybe fusion?......

Err, screw gas and diesel, they should make hydrogen cars instead. Hydrogen is more flammable then gas, and will produce more power if used in a combustion engine similar to a gas powered one.

How about Propane?? I've seen a propane prototype on a show last month.

And you can run Kerosene in Diesel engines but its not too good for them. Just a few changes and it would be fine.

Anyway the Sun's energy is from Hydrogen being burnt via Nuclear Fission, if we could build a reactor to control this reaction you could light your house for 20,000 years with 1kg of Hydrogen! :shock:
