Just got my first trike, 86250R. Got ITP Holeshot AT 18x11-9 with about 40% left id say. Will mainly be riding beanfields, pastures and in the snow. Is this a good multipurpose tire for what i will be doing or is there better options. Took it across some wet fields and some pastures 2day and could not get it to hook up very well. Im thinking these 250Rs are too damn mean for any tire when you are really getting on it. Also, could i get a wider or taller tire for my rim size and how would that affect the handling and traction? Sorry for the silly ?s but i am new to these and i know there are alot of people on here that have experience. Dont need a motocross track type tire, something in between i guess, that will hook up in wet and some snow as well. Any suggestions welcome. And i thought my KX250 was fast:w00t: Thanks in advance.

Get a 20" tire, 18"s on a 250r spin way to easy, they are better if you are racing. I have a +4 durablue axle and 20" tires on mine and it feels very stable, handles great. If you have 18's on yours and move up to 20's keep in mind that you might have to change your gearing to make them feel better, or maybe just change the gearing you have now and keep the 18's so they dont break loose so easily. I have heard that the best tires are ITP Holeshots and Fast Trekkers, not sure who makes those though.

Use what you have and learn how to handle that machine, especially how to power slide. Once youve gotten that down, THEN worry abotu tires and speed.

Tire pressures make a lot of difference too. I used Goodyear brick knobbies (flat profile) in some nasty sloppy woods by letting the pressures down to 4 psi. 18x 9.5 x 8

The 18 inch tires will slide easier, center of gravity is lower.

I've found that Holeshots seem to have too much sidebite for me on a 3wheeler. Had them on a Z and an R, replaced both sets with something else. They do get good forward traction though.

.....just one opinion though.

I use to love the Bandit XC's but they discontinued them and only make AT's. They have a thin sidewall and I popped 3 before I gave up on them...

If your not worried about rocks and sidewall tears, I still love the Holeshots. You want traction? get a spider trak!! Not sure if they are available anymore.

People like the KLAWS and also the Razr's......

In the Northeast, we have some nasty trails and every tire I buy has to be an HD or XCR blah blah blah - downside is they are twice the weight of other tires.

What about the fast trekkers 18x11x10. Anybody run these and how do they perform in different conditions?
