the person that had my 350x before me did everything half way, nothing was done right or proper and it looks like he did a little TLC port job

tell that to my brother, can it be smoothed by starting with rough grit sand paper then moving to fine grit?

I suppose you could do that if you had some time on your hands. I would try using a dremel with a grinding bit and get the deep scratches out. Then I would start working with your sand paper. Looks like he went at it straight away with a cutting bit or something.

-now that i look at it it looks like it could be done with sand paper, im sure you could get it nice and smoothed out with some.

Yeah that right there is going to hurt performance a ton!

Smooth out the exhaust as smooth as you want and do it same to the intake but rough it up a bit, in the direction of the ports, or at a slight angle

intake rough..but not that rough ...lmao.. exhaust..polished smooth..
the roughness helps atomize the gas/air and the polished helps it evac quicker.

I would definately polish all the imperfections and gouges out of the chamber at the very least.... and forget sand paper... I would go strait to using a dremel or die grinder with a flap sander... Start on the exhaust until you get comfortable with the grinder, then move to the intake, and finally the chamber and valve pockets... I would try to find some old valves to put in the head to reduce the possibility of damaging the seats... I would just remove the minimum amount of material required to clean up the shotty work that has already been performed and make it consistent... polishing is over-rated...

well, the exhaust ports are fine, he never touched those. on the intake ports i started with sand paper, it worked great then i went t a sanding bit on the dremel (not a stone the paper one) and plus i used a needle file to get the burs down. but all in all it came out good, i even polished it. and what do you mean by roughing it up?

Rough: should feel like sandstone to the touch.
