Hey all,

I am looking to buy a 3 wheeler to start out on and play with. I have seen a few on ebay that are going pretty cheap. Mostly 200m and 250R bikes. I have been told that the 250M is pretty damn slow and cannot handle dunes. I have seen the 250R in action at sand lake up here in Oregon. It is prett damn fast. I do not know if it was stock but it was spanking 250r Banshees. The 200M i notice is also 4 stroke. I guess I would like to know the pros and cons of 2 stroke and 4 stroke and the pros and cons of the 200m and the 250r. Is the 200m really that slow or are people just saying that cause they are used to fast banshees?

I need help :-D

Thanks

Comparing a 200m and a 250r is like comparing a Yugo to a Mustang GT.

The 250r's are a Sports machine while the 200m isn't.

A 250r will be the better dunes machine.

I personally won't recommend either machine without some sort of back ground in riding abilities and such. To do other wise would be foolish. I say that because I don't like people getting hurt.

Thanks
Howdy

Hmmm I could be wrong but I thought my friend had a 250 banshee. Anyway, is the 200m too much if you do not have any offroad riding experience?? I ride a CBR 600 on the street but I have never taken that offroad :).

Anything is too big for off road unless you go in with the attitude that you are willing to take it slow and learn. I see way to many kids and adults jump on a machine and try and go balls to the wall. All that is going to do is create a disaster at some point. This sounds funny, but I still teach friends, neighbor kids, etc to ride. I start them on my sons 90cc 4 wheeler. Its an automatic gas-n-go machine. For us heavier adults its really slow and very unstable feeling. The point to me starting them on it is so they get a feeling and familuarty with controls etc. I also the like that the adults feel a little unstable on it cause when they step into a bigger machine they will realize and respect it a bit more.
The 200 will be a great 1st rider. Just give yourself time to learn and you will be fine!

Of course, stock banshees are 350cc twins.

But don't forget in the absence of a 250cc yamaha 2 stroke ATV over the many, many years the Banshee has been produced, people have created whats known as a Ban-Z, meaning a Banshee frame with a YZ 250 or even Tri-Z 250 Mill.

It's entirely possible his friend has a 250 banshee. But whether the friend knows it or not, it is not stock.

Hey guys another quick question. I have been looking all over and all the info I found on the 200m says that it is a 5 speed auto? I looked at close detailed pics of the trike and it has two levers on the bars and a shift lever and breaks on the right side of the engine. So why would it have both levers on the bars and the shift lever on the case if it was an auto ??? Am I missing something here ??

it is a "semi auto" in which case you have to still shift but there is a centrifigual clutch that elminated the use of a manual clutch lever on the bars. The two leaves on the bars are the front and back brakes.

I think the 200M was a dumb machine. yeah it had front suspension and a rear rack and hitch, but it was geared too high to do any towing really. My 110 in lo range would out pull the 200M. It also isn't a good trail rider because it's big, heavy, and no rear suspension. Just my opinion though.

If you are just starting out, a 200x would be a great machine if you want to cruise around. Not good for working though.

We've got a lot of work ahead of us guys.

I'd reccommend the 200S. Its got plenty of power although no rear suspension. The lever on the left is the rear brake and the one on the right is the front brake. When something says 3 or 5 or 6 speed auto, it means its an auto clutch, but you still have to shift with your foot. If its fully auto, then it will usually say CVT (or Constant Variable Transmission. (Belt drive)) with the exeption of some of the Honda 4-bys which are fluid driven (no belts).

ok so if the levers are front and rear brake what is the little pedal on the right side of the trike where the rear brake goes on a bike ?
