Wanting to get an old Honda three wheeler and was wondering if anybody can give me the pros and cons of the 250R and the 350X. Speed, weight, etc. Is the 350X too heavy and slow. Is the 250R tempermental in the winter. Never rode either and was wanting your opinion. Really want something that screams but dont want to work on it every day either.Does the 350X have reverse and more reliable. All comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

what kind of riding do you plan on doing?

Plan on spending 2000$ in the long run for reliability and good looks.

The 350X is a torquey fast and fun 6 speed machine capable of much more than trail riding with average suspension. A bit on the heavy side, and no reverse but the most fun machine I have ever owned.

Look to the 250SX for e start, reverse and shaft auto drive.

The 250R is a 6 speed liquid cooled rocketship. Tons of top end power but not as easy to manage as the 350X. You need to be on your game to ride the 250R and it has the suspension and power to handle anything you throw at it.

I didn't like my R as much as my X because I was over jumping everything by 20 feet. One throttle mistake and your in the woods.... Everyone that owns a 250R seems to want more low end power and it isn't easy to achieve with a 2 stroke motor.

well, if i start my R once a week in the winter cold, NON_HEATED shed stored, it will be running in 5 kicks, from sitting a week in the dead cold. it sat for a month without being touched, and started in about 20 kicks, NO ETHER. just old choke and kick.
i have also found its WAY easier to start it when its cold by using the choke and NOT touching the throttle. it allows the choke to pull more fuel through the carb.
bottom line is: i love my R. one of the meanest atv's i have ridden, but still quite user friendly.

if i let my 350x sit a month it will start in 3-4 kicks...... i dont see your point

its all in the jetting

Like SWIGIN was trying to get across, if it's that many kicks then your jetting is off.

Personally I think 2-strokes start easier in the winter. My brother's 200x needs about 15 kicks and that has a pipe, air cleaner, and is jetted perfect. My 81 250r is bored with, milled head, pipe, 36 flat slide carb, uni filter, boyesen pro series reeds, and boost bottle. That'll start 2nd kick with the choke after 2 weeks of sitting and that was when it was 15 below. Most people think 2-strokes are less reliable but I think they are more reliable just look how simple they are. Simplicity is reliablity.
