I feel stupid for asking this. I remember taking my clutch cover off without removing the engine. I do not remember how I did this but I do not want to take my motor back out to fix my kick start. I remember it being a tight fit.

Very tight on 84-85. Foot peg mount gets tight.

Is it a 1st or 2nd generation Tecate ?
I only have a 2nd gen and it's easy to get it of, just take of the footpeg and brake pedal.

It is a 1st gen tecate. It says you need to remove the engine to split the cases. But not to do the clutch. I hope my engine has not saged in the frame.
