85-86 ATC250R Aftermarket gas tanks

I was just curious if anybody here has used either the clarke or IMS tanks? (stock size prefferably) I am looking to get a new tank (mine is tuirninng white), but factory are spendy. i was just wondering if the colors match Maier red alright? How is the fit? Do they fade like the stockers?

Well its not red but I'm running a black Clarke tank and its still really nice!

I removed all the oxidaxtion on mine, didn't take that long and was easy. I just don't have a complete 250r yet lol, getting started again soon i hope.

my only problem with polishing my tank AGAIN is the last time i did, it started turning white my first trip to the coast. I saw your thread, it does do a good job, I was just looking to see if the aftermarkets fit good, or turn white

OH and my tank is still shiney and nice lookin' the tank is Turning white, I have scrubbed on it a few times and it is deep. Like almost clear through

My 350x has a clarke gas tank on it. It has been on for about two years and it looks great. It has not faded or anything.

Ah, Gotcha. Well, I have an IMS 4 gallon 250R tank, and its a good piece. Its always leaked a little around the cap though, with both an OEM and IMS caps, more so with the IMS cap. I haven't had a stock sized clarke tank, I know seadoo650 does in blue, I think a few other members do too although I can't recall anyone else off hand.

I got a white clarke on mine, seems to work rather good. No complaints except the cap that came with it blew apart and I had to order a new one
