I'm looking for an ATV that has a real "open" rear differential. I was wondering if anyone knoew if any of the newer 4wheelers out there had an open rear diff. I would imagine most would have some sort of locking feature. Researching for an upcoming project.

I know the Kawasaki prarie 3 wheelers and I think the 200's also had a diff you could unlock. It had a little locking hub in the left rear wheel.

By "open" do you mean open gears? Such as in a miter gear setup?

As in not a solid axle.

Like Xman said, the Kawi had a locking feature so one wheel would drive or run posi. The 250SX and Yamaha 225 are both a solid axle driven rear differential with a driveshaft.

It's not a differential as the 2 wheels can't spin independently.
