my buddy calls me last night and tells me a 52 year old man was killed while riding the maytown/5a spot.I was in south fla at mudfest and not out there, but ride there often.he did not know what kind of trike it was but said he was doing wheelies with his son on the back with no helmets and crashed somehow.this is a great place to ride and now more negative news will speed the closure of yet another spot.my pal was shook up and had to lead the emt back to the spot.I saw a bunch of trikes out there last weekend and talked to a old guy on a big red.I wonder if it was him.we all have to ride safe and remember helmets.

That really does suck. We all take that risk though. If anything were to ever happen to me on my trick, I just hope they wouldn't blame my trike. Its the operators error. Anyways, no helmets, yeah, thats to smart. My thoughts are with his family.

Well thats issue I have with Florida, no helmet law.

My aunt works in a hospital in Florida, the stories she tells me about motorcycle accidents, and the victims that come in are horrible.

My brother and I took our bikes down there a couple years back, we ran into another couple of riders in the marsh without helmets, it struck us as very unusual until we remembered about the law. We STILL kept ours on though.

Thats a real rough situation. I feel sorry for the young boys who had to witness such a bad thing.

Yea, I don't think it should matter though, law or not it's up to you down here, If I had kids, I'd set the right example by not doing wheelies and wearing a helmet, it's great and all, but they will most likely do what they see, and that's bad.

I hear ya with the spots btw, everything is getting so damn crowded they just keep closing places and expanding on everything. Sounds kind of fishy though, to get killed from a bad wheelie, maybe he had a heart attack or something?

Helmet may have made that one worse, if it was a broken neck. Anyway, its always the ones doing stupid things that make the rest of us look bad.

I hear yah, Im not trying to get into a helmet debate.

Other people have different views on safety and thats fine, what someone does with their life is up to them. Sometimes I just think that some of these people would show a little more care for themselves though.

I just emailed this thread to a buddy who never wears a helmet. It won't change his mind, but I constantly give him *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* about the no helmet thing so this is just one more pile.

If you know someone like I described then email this thread to them. Quad riders too.

Thats not always the case. As your avatar says, *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* happens and it happens at the worst times. After I was going down a trail nice and slow, caught a rock and nearly got my head cut in half by the disc and sprocket I started to think what it could have been. I dont feel right without a helmet now that I know how close death really can be.

I'm not telling you what to do, but if something were to happen to you, theres 1 more strike against trikes and all ATV's for that manor.
