I'm just putting a new piston in my 1986 Tri-z, can anyone tell me the torque settings for the head bolts and cylinder to crankcase bolts? Also should these be done up in any specific sequence?

Thanks

Jason

I do ALL my head nut's to 22pnd's and the cylinder nut's I tighten as hard as I can with a open end wrench..never had one blow out

head nuts do in a alternating pattern
the cylinder nuts snug tight then go in a alt pattern

Thanks for the quick reply;)
Sorry to sound stupid, but what are PND's?

pnd's is short for pounds.
Torque wrenches and torque specifications are usually rated
in ft/lb (meaning foot/pounds) or Nm (meaning Newton meters)

My Z manual lists head nuts at 18 ft/lb and
cylinder nuts at 25 ft/lb

(Listen to Raff, he knows heaps)

Lubricate the threads, cross tighten. Make sure the threads are good (no burs) Better if youre not experienced to buy at least a cheap torque wrench. I hand tighten them too, but have been doing it for years and check it against a torque wrench occasionally.

Thanks for all the replies:)
I was expecting a figure with either ft/lb or Nm at the end, so pnd's threw me a bit lol
Don't worry, we have a torque wrench, I won't be guessing it;)
