How do you guys break beads on your rims. I have 84 110 rims and need to replace the o-rings or put in tubes and my local shop wants $15 bucks per wheel.
Which I happen to think is CRAZY!!
Any remidies to this would be great.

i use a old bumper jack with the big base on them, but he tire on the ground under the bumper of my truck, put the base of the jack as close to the beed as i can start to jack it up then hammer the base in as far as i can into the beed then keep going till the beed pops. sometimes i have to do ti 2 or 3 times in dif. spots around the tire, but it always works.

I jump on them with my "extra lard". Might be glued on (hope not)

A Dremel will cut through the cord and make the tire easier to remove.

In that area id use tubes, woods and cornfield riding tend to puncture tires. Then that green goop (sealant and balancer) canbe put in the tube and not make a mess of the rim.

I work at Harbor Freight and picked one of these up

Now i change alot of tires, the unit is pretty compact, simple and best of all it works. I have had some pretty stuck beads too and it will break them after a few attempts.

Harbor Freight has a nice car - type tire changer machine too, Ive seen one work- about $2000 which is a bit pricey for ATV work.

i just use the excavator lad eon one side and the bucket on the other side and apply pressure and it usualy pops the beads right off. or try drivign over the edge of it with a car.

Father in law found another way, pump it up to 110 psi and leave it in the sun. BANG! haha RLH!

Not a good idea with small children or people that cant run fast.

After working at a tireshop I am too lazy to use anything besides a tire machine... I would try a different shop... they outa bust the beads for free...

I second the bumper jack system (if you can find one that is). Just make sure not to go wild as you can exert a lot of pressure with this method. I have used this method for 20 years with no problems at all.

That looks like a good investment right there :D

I'm with Brapp...lol...I use the loader bucket on the front of my tractor. Haven't found one I can't pop yet!

the tractor method works good or you can clamp the tire in a big vice and that will usually pop the beads off the wheel

We use a rough terrain forklift. Bring the forks close together so they just clear the rim, and press. Remember to take the valve core out first!!!

You can use a strong section of C shapped steel bar. Put it on the tire as near as you can from the rim and roll on the bar with a tractor, a truck, a car... Remember the heavy the tractor, the easier it will be to break the bead

I just use a 2x8 stud type thing. Any longish wooden block that's relatively thick will do, lay it on the tire and then drive up onto it with your truck/car. The board will press down and pop the bead off the tire, and it won't actually tear the tire so you can reuse it.

take the core out put the tire by a fire get it nice and hot. put oil where the bead is. get a pry bar and and beat on it with a hammer around the bead.it worked for me. if that dont work throw in the fire.
