250r seat pan

Has anyone ever tried to make a fiberglass seat pan? Would it hold up? I still have the seat pan off my 82r the edges are rusted and jagged but its there. Should I copy it with card board and use it as the core? I have never messed with fiberglass, but I need a seat pan and can not find one. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes we had a guy make a fiberglass one and send it to us to cover.
He also added wood to the edges so the cover could be stapled down.
it was for a 81 250R.
He does not make them to sell,just made the one for himself.So it can be done.

Thank you for the discription. I did not even think of putting wood around the edges. I guess it is time to get some fiberglass and get this thing going. Thanks
