I dont like the colors! Everything I have is red and black or blue and black. Then I have my 86 200x... white and blue and red. Meh.
I was thinking maybe changing the air shrouds to the same blue as the seat and plastics and tank to black.
And anyone that says I should keep the plastics as stock as possible. They have stitch jobs and have been shaved way before I got her. So, I really dont care =)

I like the black.
Is that hard to do?
Could you do one with white fenders, headlight, tank and shrouds. Blue shock boots, seat, frame and swinger.
Thats what Im doing to mine. But Ive only seen it in my head. I'd love to see how those colors look.
Thanks

I saw a custom painted dirt bike a while ago that I loved, it had a copper metallic frame and black plastic, with anodized orange accessories, and some titanium/gunmetal color in there too. I think someone should do that, I really liked the contrast between black and copper. It looked like it was made of brand new pennies

And where are you guys gonna get different colored plastics??
The shrouds come in (EDIT) Red only and from Maier only.
I believe you can get the rear fender in red or white but not sure about black.
Most any model front fender fits so you can get the color you want there, but not the rear fender.
Painting plastic is for non riders.......

DC, don't be a party pooper.........Maybe we can talk them into making us up some! If not, I'll get a good friend of mine to make me some in CF and I'll just do a CF 200x

Im deffinetly going blue frame. swinger, seat, and shock boots. With white fenders and tank. I was thinking maybe use a white SX light or I think Ive seen a white maier 250r light. And try painting the shrouds white. Thats just what I thought might look good.

Just can't decide which of these versions I like better. Nice photo-shop Saleen. The white and blue look super clean.... but then theres that black and blue. Hmmm... think Maier would do a small run of black 86 plastics? Wonder if there would be enough members interested.

I'd go with white and blue, I love those 2 colors together. Heres my '83 done in those colors:

I'm not trying to ruin your parade.....BUT
MAIER won't even make the 87 white shrouds and may never had made them, the 86 red shrouds are not available anywhere to my knowledge.
Supposedly we had some company that a bunch of guys (NINJA) included sent some 86/87 shrouds to and they were gonna make a mold, but I haven't heard word yet or even an update.
My advice is to buy a few spare MAIERS front and rear fenders in white or red because in time they will be gone too.
Unless we get some members that are millionaires that decide to keep this stuff going, it will all be gone someday.
In another 10 years there may be NOTHING for us, reality STINKS!! And I gues we all might be riding without fenders......

I am working on that....who would be serious in ordering black 86-87 plastics? I would use a 250R front fender and keep the scoops red, so all I would need is a rear fender. Either that or I will have a good friend of mine mold me a carbon fiber rear fender......

To my knowledge, to date, only one person has been able to reproduce any of the discontinued plastics and he is no longer making them.
I do believe that there was someone in contact with a company trying to make a mold, forget about MAIER being reasonable with there minimum order quantities and money down etc etc.

man, all those color combos look so sweet. Here is my current plan, using what is available for plastic. Except i will be polishing the lower forks. Id love some black but I dont have the cash to commit to it right now.

Hey dirtcrasher, I e-mailed you from my work. Dont know if you got it. I checked the mail room today and its still there.
Because of how long its taking. I might as well just give you the stuff for free and pay shipping. This is ridiculous.
Oh and im going to paint. My white paint worked for 7 months now, with active riding.
BTW- Tony (aussieduner) doesn't make the parts anymore, but hell. I can make airshrouds and maybe might be able to do front fenders. The rears are too large for me to do though.
I''ll make a mold with some plaster and then if anyone wants to suggest what plastic would be the best bang for the buck, i'll do it.
I could always use Aluminite too.

Hey bud, thanks for letting me know. I'm still definitely paying for the shipping, I'm sure your doing the best you can. Hopefully it will go out soon.....
As far as the shrouds go, I've seen allot of crude molds make some great parts. If you search u tube, there are allot of guys doing vac forming with simple simple methods and nothing more than a regular vacuum. There are a bunch of guys recreating Star Wars pieces, pretty neat though.
I think the radiator shrouds would be a piece of cake. Most of the stuff Tony made was realtively flat or with very little depth. He also either couldn't work with or obtain thicker plastic which is something we need to source.

Ive been able to to make some Hard plastic parts out of acetone and a few other things, I can make the liquid plastic, just need to know the right colors to mix to get what you want.
The molds are my only problem, my front fender is somewhat large, but the rears would have to be made in a kiln, which i dont have.
For now, im spray bombing it. =P

***READ THIS!!!!!***
Like the 250R Carbon Fiber stuff, who would be interested in getting BLACK 86-87 200x Plastics, including Front fender, rear Fender, possibly shrouds? I am talking to Mrs. Moshman about putting together something and the min order is of course 10 pieces of each item. She is going to get prices on Monday and then we'll start an offical sign up thread. If we need to wait a short time, then we can corrdinate that also.....
But for now, who is in?
1. Saleen_n_around 1 rear fender 1 front fender(might use a 250R front fender but I'll buy an X fender anyhow.

oh god here we go with the ordering of fenders again, just hope you dont get stuck with like 10 pairs like another member on here did. get the money first before you go placing any orders.... as for a color scheme. me personally i am going to be going with red, charcoal aluminum, chrome and black, with white decals. red tank, fenders, shrouds, seat, frame, triples, charcoal gray aluminum motor, lower fork tubes, swinger, and as much chrome as i can put on it. but thats another project for another day, i already got enough on my hands with my t3's and 70. the x is down the road.

I got the prices back from Mrs. Moshman....this is how it will break down. So if there is going to be one Black 86/7200x, there's gonna be 10!
I got the prices for you. I also noticed there is a thread going on right now for carbon fiber scoops. I replied in that thread, because she has the price wrong. Special colors are the same as list price, no matter what color, but carbon fiber IS 15% more.
So if you guys wanted black, it is the same as list, just need 10 to order it.
86-87 black rears: $225.13
blk front: $64.04
and they do not have the mold for the 86-87 scoops, just the 1st generation 200X
Thanks,
Tammy
We know the prices and the process. Some people have asked if we can wait, an I agree. If everyone is cool with it, I would consider pursuing this around the first of April
