Picked up this 85 200X from Howard last night.

Here's what weird! He told me it's an 85, and I believed him! (inside joke)

I got it home, and found neutral. The tires turn! and when I sit on it, the swingarm and seat come closer together and move up and down if I jump on it! (inside joke)

All kidding aside, really like it so far. Took it for a spin this evening and it feels good! Just for grins, I'm gonna name it James!!!:Bounce

I'm gonna get the 350X lights going and put that spot light on my 70.

Thanks Howard!

I threw the 70's in there too, they wanted in some pics!

How bright is the 350X headlight? It should be pretty dim with the stock lighting coil on the 85 200X.

TravEX
01-28-2008, 08:41 PM
THe 350X light is not hooked up. Howard is gonna send me the sockets so I can hook it up. That spotlight is dam bright though.

If they are dim when I get em going, I'll probably just have 1 bulb hooked up. I'll rarely ride this one at night.

O, and I have plans for those turf savers. Gonna put them on my 400EX and put my car tires on the front of it and see what that looks like. I got some 22" Shredders that I can put on the 200X, gold wheels too, hehe.

Thats funny... As soon as i saw your new x i thought.. needs gold rims, would look kinda cool with that gold frame. Now whatever you do... don't break that kickstarter because you've been jumping up and down on it for a few hours! Enjoy the new X.

I've had a 200S, 350X, 250R, and am eager to try out this 200X. The ride today was great. I was very surprised with the pep it has. I guess I was expecting a manual clutch 200S feel, boy was I wrong! hehe

The vinyl on the seat pulls back the plastic seat pan over time, causing it to pull away from the tank.
I've heard that it can be fixed by heating and re-bending the pan, but I've never tried it.

hey james.
Here is a video of push starting.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c48/coryv_76/th_YAMAHA125PUSHSTART.jpg (http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c48/coryv_76/?action=view&current=YAMAHA125PUSHSTART.flv)

Instructions:

Step #1 - Find a hill, or sloped area.

Step #2 - Turn ATC until front tire is facing downward on the slope.

Step #3 - Call your dad to come give you a big push.

Step #4 - Sit on your ATC, make sure your feet are on the foot pegs and the front wheel should be directly in front of you.

Step #5 - Ensure your kill switch is set to the "RUN" position. Open fuel cap by turning counter clockwise as far as you can then lifting directly up. Put you head close to the open hole in the fuel tank and check to see if there is a liquid substance. If a liquid substance is seen, replace fuel cap. CAUTION: Do not inhale fumes, brain damage may occur (If possible).

Step #6 - Place your left hand on the left handlebar grip, and your right hand on the right handle bar grip. place your right thumb on the throttle but do not press it at this moment.

Step #7 - Tell you dad to push on the grab bar, and get the ATC moving as fast as possible. When you sense that you are not speeding up any more, lift up on the shift lever and depress the thumb throttle and if you are very lucky it will run!

Repeat steps 1 through 7 as deemed necessary

Thanks for all the comments. I'm gonna leave the tank alone for a while. The tank is in great shape. I guess it has been creamed, it covered on the inside with a yellowish substance. Yes, it's paint, not a sticker. It will be a few days before I can get the gold wheels on her, but I'll put up pics when I do.

Here's some better pics of the frame and handlebars. I took the 350X light off for the the pics, I didn't know there was a skull on the gooseneck. I may take that other light off and just run it without any lights at all. It's gonna have an easy life anyway, no night riding.

It's wired to the high beam switch.

damn man, with all this action maybe i should have kept it, HA HA

hey man, on a serious note, you said in your first post that i said it was an 85, and i did, thats what i was told, Was it not?

I think it will be a good trike man, carb ran good no sputter really that i noted. the tank and such grew on me as well. I think the previous owner did say +4 on the rear axle. He also said it has been gone completly through about 3 years ago. i took his word since it looked like new center case gaskets and stuff.

glad ya like it man. hope to ride with ya soon. hey, find you a air cooled R roller and i can hook you up with an aircooled motor or something.

PM your address so i can get some stuff together for you.

I'm not sure what to think of that color combo you got going on there dude. I think the copper ang gold would look killer with black plastics tho. I also dig the gold wheels!

I had a thread a while back askin opinions about that copper color. I was thinking about doing up my 350x with some of this. I'm glad you made this thread!

TravEX
02-07-2008, 08:42 PM
Yeah, I dunno either about the colors. That's the way I got it. I had these Gold's and 22's just laying around collecting dust, so I figured I'd get some use out of them. Plus, those turf saver's were useless for riding! hehe.

I woulda chose a different color for the frame.

TravEX
02-07-2008, 08:47 PM
These are wheels and tires I got off of Liquid Darkness. Also, they will probably stay on there, because something is going on with the wheel studs, it was difficult to get the wheels on and off of there.

The tank, as I have mentioned, has been Kreemed (tan color), I found alot of sandy junk in the float bowl, and everything in the carb at gas level and down is tan color and kinda coated with that stuff. Is that normal? I put a filter on it when I put it back, it didn't have one on it.

chris200x
02-07-2008, 08:47 PM
It actually doesn't look to bad now that you have the gold rims on there.. IMO the copper just dont go to well with the red. Just my opinion tho. It that all just paint or is it pc'd?

I've got some seat time on it the past couple of evenings. Those 22's sure makes it feel doggy now, LOL.

I've bled the rear brakes, but it still takes alot of pressure to slow it down. The pads are good, the caliper/piston may need a good cleaning.
