Well now that I can basically start with a fresh project, I have a basically stock 200x engine, and enough parts to build another trike. Im thinking about hopping this engine up some but dont know what size carb to go with. I thought about stock vs larger but dont know how big a stock engine can handle. It will have a custom muffler + cobra header and aftermarket filter. I was looking at 30mm carbs but was thinking that would be too large? Im sure Modding it would be possible, but would the engine be able to handle this large of a carb?

I was looking at carbs like this, How are these carbs for 50s?! 29mm carb on a 50? while the 200x only uses a 24mm? I was just wondering if these carbs would work since there so plentiful.

Ok, so i just measured the intake and carb, carb is 28mm, intake is 30mm. Is it possible this is a different intake and carb? So now I could get a 29mm to actually fit without any mods?

i briefly had a 30mm carb on my 200x. it sucked so damned much air it was nearly impossible to tune. everyone seems to think that 28mm is about the max for a 200x.

on my 200x we kept the stock carb on for a few months but it wasn't getting enough gas to start, so we used an xr200 carb- works like a gem

I just measured my 200x carb, it measure 27mm. Intake measures 30mm :wondering

I was thinking about that carb, how would it work? Everything I search for always comes up as pitbike carbs, all the way up to 30mm.

if you're looking on ebay, look up xr200 carb:

the only mod that needs done is to heat up the rubber boot between the airbox and the carb with out heating it's a pretty T-I-T tight fit, a little lube wouldn't hurt either.

thats all the help i can give, i don't know anything about the measurements of it, other than it works.

I have a pd 27mm on mine, it doesn't sacrifice too much low end and great mid-top.

Thanks for the advice, Ill probably get the XR carb, I believe I read on here it was a 27mm? I measured mine and its a 27 also. So going from a old untuned carb, to this new XR carb should give some peformance gains correct?

as far as performance and a little common sense, i now see that i might have misled you. i saw the title of this thread 200x carb & chimed in and i JUST now saw that you have an 86 where i was working on an 84. chances are if yours has a 27mm and the xr carb is also a 27 mm, you might not gain as much as i did.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, Theres really no medium between 27 and 30, So I guess Ill just go with the 27 unless I find a 28 or 29.

So are you buying that stock carb of mine, or no?
