Today I go to my Honda dealer to take my oversize and piston (125m) and other part (pic coming soon) and I told to the guy for painting tips. And he told me is not a good Idea to paint the head ? It is real The guy say is for the cooling.:wondering

Do you trouble with your head painting ?

Ps- Im very scared to paint a new oversie cylinder head. (For paint in the cylinder or in the gasket area) What do you think

Thanks

Paint it flat black so it radiates the most heat.

I have a type of paint here is Dupli-color engine enamel 500°f Low gloss Black It is good ? And you told tape all the gasket area and the hole and all the part of the cylinder the goes in the bottom end.

No trouble

as long as its engine paint its good, also you should prime it up before painting comes out really nice, then a clear coat.

whaaaa???? you cant go priming a head. the paint can take high temps but the primer wont. ive learned that the hard way. but again i did it on 2 stroke sled heads.

You can get high heat primer, I never prime it though. The duplicolor bakes on real nice and dosent scratch off very easily.

Rob (84Honda200s) is absolutely right. The primer will not withstand the high heat on an engine head and cylinder. You simply sand the head down with some high-grit paper. Also, be sure to degrease and clean everything with solvent, otherwise the paint won't stick.

Clear coat will also not last on the engine, I don't think. 2 coats of Engine Paint will do fine.

Paint does retain heat... but I doubt you will notice any difference... I would personally leave it bare... to each his own...

Get High heat ceramic primer and paint.

ive done it before and havent had primer come off, casue i work on outboards everyday and we prime and paint some of them and it stays on nice.
