My ATC doesn't idle or run well when the choke is off but if I put it on the first position the bike runs alot better can someone tell me what this means. Its a 1980 honda atc 185 also it looks like its missing a part on the outside of the carb in front of the bowl facing the cylinder there is a hole going up with threads in it but no pin could someone tell me what this is. Thks A.J.

Generally, too lean on fuel, the choke enrichens the mixture and the engine runs better.
But, NEVER attempt to diagnose an engine without first looking at the spark plug. A fouled plug or weak ignition likes more fuel also-so you can be fooled into thinking its carb when its not.
There shouldnt be parts missing from a carb (they dont put spare parts in them!). Could be a missing bowl screw or a missing idle adjust screw. Can you post a picture?

Thats the idle adjust screw, it must be there. either ask around here for a spare screw, or get the carb number and go to www.sudco.com. I doubt a dealer has parts that old.
