What honda atc did I buy?

just picked up a honda atc 185 i think chain drive trunk in back between fenders no front shocks metal tank pull start 3 speed auto any idea what year it is ? thanks!

looks like it but cant c if it has the black trunk in between the rear fenders no high low or rev

Hey Angus....... yeah, the 185 is a 5 speed, 1st gear is super low. No high or low range and no reverse, chain drive. But they are an all around great bike... the motors last forever. I think I was wrong about the rear trunk though.... the 1980 185 did have a trunk... just not sure if all years did. Here are all the years for Honda ATC's... maybe this will help a bit. yea, im pretty sure thats a 1981 or 1982 atc200.or it could be an 1983 with the front forks swapped. their great bikes, and do great in the mud.

going by the black and orange decals on the rear fenders. it is a 1980 atc 185. also if it had a round headlight that also would be 1980. it was only made for the 1980 year then was upgraded to the 200 in 81. i have a 80 185 and it looks just like that.

looking at the pictures on this site i would say its a 1981 or 1982 atc 200! I still cant tell! I'll check the engine tommorow for the displasement both years look the same to me anyone know any differences! please let me know! thanks 4 all your help!

for the difference between a 185 and 200 look on the cylinder, around the back if i remember right. their should be a tag towards the bottom in between 2 fins saying the displacement. let us know what that says.

If it is a ATC185 - it is a 1980 model. The 1980 ATC185 was virtually the smae trike as the 1981 - 1982 ATC200 - and yes - they had a trunk in the ATC185 (not to be confused with ATC185S - 1981 - 1983)

Since it has the strait profile 2 piece wheels and the small chrome gas cap it probably inst a 1983 converted. The 1982 has "normal" sized rear barkes. The 1980 and 1981 models have really small rear brakes and i can't tell the difference without checking the displacement on the engine.

If in their original form - the ATC185 was an orange color (fenders /tank / headlight bucket) - the 200 were all red. Also - the ATC185 had a large round headlight - metal bucket - like the old 90's and 78 and 79 110's but larger - all ATC200 had square plastic headlight buckets.

I know though - when they are beat up and have no healdight and mis-matched plastic - it is hard to tell.

it looks alot like my 84 200s, but I think the 200s had shocks in the front....maybe a 185 I dont remember them having shocks
