84-85 Tectae Rear Shock Swap, What year 300EX is best?

Is it the 300EX rear shock thats a good swap for the 84-85 Tecate? I have an 01 Raptor Shock on it now but want to go without the Bottle. Whats the best year rear shock for me and why are they any good? Are they adjustable and all that? I need better suspension and need this rear shock for the Ice Racer Project ASAP. Help a brother out. Thx:beer

Yes the 300ex shock Is a great shock. If you want a nice one buy a newer one off ebay. They are preload ajustable only. It does make a different between the 84 and 85 pivot arms . 85 seems to feel better than the 84. I like it .There is a small mod that needs to be done . The pivot arm needs to be opened up to allow the 300ex bolt to pass through. So you will need the oem tecate bolt for the bottom and the shorter of the two 300ex bolts for the top. Thats it in a hand basket. Lopes
