i see you all talking about the triz compression and it makes me want to check mine...should i get the same readings???? choke or no choke?

You should have somewhere between 177psi to 199psi. But if you have no problem starting trike I would not worry. Hope this helps.

I don't know man, it depends on what year R you have. The water-cooled motors factory service manual states 171 - 199psi - the '81 -'84 air-cooled motors are stated at 142 - 165psi cold. The main differences lay in the fact that the liquid-cooled motor is designed for and can operate with much closer tolerences than the air-cooled ones because of the constant temperature range provided by the coolant - also, you always take an air-cooled motors readings on a "cool" motor, because of the wider range of temperature fluctuations the motor would have to cope with - they are much more suseptable to environmental factors and especially riding style.

no choke. hold the throttle wide open and kick it about 4 times
