200s 84' extremely hard to start after sittng for a few days. (Recoil starter). Has good compression, great spark and getting gas. After it starts and runs for a few minutes it will restart with no problems. But after a a day or so of sitting it is extremely hard to start. I almost have to push start it after a few days. I am looking for ideas.. :wondering

my ytm200 does that sometimes... I usually drain the fuel bowl on the carb (it has a screw near the bottom) with the fuel valve on and it seems to help most every time. I usually notice the gas will be yellowish in color then will run clear after the bowl has drained enough

check your plug, see if your getting good spark or if the plug is wet. You may have a bad needle. If thats the case, try shutting the fuel off when you park it.

Spark is strong and blue. It gets wet after a few pulls so I know it's getting fuel.

"well, cold weather will lean out your carb so if you are on the lean side before cold weather comes it will be real lean and hard to start.
richen up the air screw and pilot some and i bet it will start easyer"
if you bike was running lean wouldn't the plug be a whiteish/brown color? Mine always has a small amount of black dust on the plug. It wipes right off.. Is my bike running in a lean state?

I too would try fattening up the pilot jet and adjusting the air screw.

with pump gas its hard to tell how the jetting is by color.
the air screw and pilot jet controls idle and off idle.....thats where id bet its lean.

[[Lean tends to be white,]]

[[WAY too rich, thats a fouled spark plug. New plug, get it idling and smell the exhaust, does it smell like raw gas?
dont trust that blue spark, one loose connector terminal in the wiring and it wont start. ]]
