pull your spark plug and see what color the porcelain is. I'm guessing its running too lean on the idle circuit

i was reding another form and do u turn the pilot jet all the way in tell its stops or does it need to be ajusted, and on the air to full mixture if u turn it out does it get liner or the other way around.last time it did this the rings froze to the piston and in afiad it will do it again. the trike will load up on gas then die if its about to die, ill give it gas the rev it up and it turns to black smoke should i get a smaller pilot jet. andrun hiher octange full?

how is your air filter? a dirty one will make it run erratic. make sure the intake boots are in good shape and not leaking, both the air box and on the head.

are your valves in spec?

Turn the mixture screw all the way in then back out 1.25-1.50 turns.
The jets should be tightened all the way.
Try running a very smal stran of wire through the pilot jet to clear any trash. Also make sure your fuel cap is venting, you can check by blowing or sucking on the vent hose on the cap.

ok i put the bigger carb on, and it was easy starting but it ran like crap it would back fire and i thought i would try and take it down the drive way it back fire and nothing but a big black cloud cam out so i shut it down and changed carbes and it ran fine i put a supertrapp muffler on and, it smoked but i thank it from the priviuce three wheeler cuzz it needed rings.

You can't just throw a bigger carb on and go, you need to jet the bigger carb for your setup

i dont get it was it running rich or lean to back fireim afriad it might run to rich and mess the rings up.would running it lean make the rings stick the the piston also?

if it is rich it will flubber and blubber with black smoke coming out, if its lean, it will back fire upon hard acceleration. its a 4 stroke, it can run a little lean if you are just making jetting runs. extended high rpms while running lean will shorten engine life for sure not having anything to do with stuck rings...

i thank i got it figured out when i turn the gas off it idles hight the does smoke as bad but the ill give gas the it act fine tell it run out in the bowl i thank on the 34mm car i need to up jet my main that way it dont back fire and turn the air mixture in as i turn it get rich or other way aroung?

Buy a new plug, Run the bike for about 100 yards at the rpm range/jet you want to check pull the plug you want a skin/tan color (i go for it a bit darker brown to be on the safe side) If there is no coloring then your way lean. Here is another tip always start rich and go down. Rather run rich than blow an engien because of a leand carb while trying to jet in. So if your at a 45 now go with a 52 or 55 pilot and go down. Same with the main jets. Also keep some standards, you keep chainging carbs and pipes, leave it at soemthing and get the jetting figured out, write it down. Then swap parts then it should only be minor changes.

i thank i got it but, still smokes alittle but the spark plug was black knows it brownish , i put the supertrapp on and seem like it had more mid power but i took all the disc out the stock pipe which is modifide alot seem like got more all around power.
